A rural community in Ohaji/Egbema Local
Government Area in Imo state, some mothers from Mgbishii are protesting
over the unthinkable savage crimes that have befallen them.
The mothers have cried out to Imo State government and the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province Dr. Anthony Obinna saying that their off springs have turned against them.
They confirmed to Vanguard that they are being molested by their own children during a recent group visit to the Catholic Archbishop at the Maria Assumpta Catholic Cathedral in Owerri.
The women also said that they have already cried and complained to the Imo state administration but their pleads have fallen to deaf ears.
They said: “We are angry because government is not looking at our direction at all. We have been completely abandoned for years. Now we have no good roads, no electricity, no market, nothing is going on in our place. To make things worse, we are now suffering from insecurity.”
They say that their little community is lacking strong Police presence and they are suffering from it. The women said the few policemen in the area are beaten up by their sons, when ever they try to intervene.
They said: “Each time we report cases to the police and they manage to send their men at all, the criminals beat them (policemen) up because they (criminals) parade more sophisticated weapons than what the policemen have. We needed police escort to get here (Maria Assumpta Cathedral) and we will also need them to go back home.”
In fact, things are so bad that the women said they are already making plans to relocate to Rivers state and leave the community for their immoral sons.
“Even the Reverend Father in our place is complaining and threatening to go away. About two weeks ago, some reverend sisters visited our place and were waylaid on the road and robbed," the added.

According to the women: “We are defiled and molested by our own children. You cannot come to Mgbuishii and return home safely because of the crime rate.” What a shame!
