A man from Detroit, Michigan, not long ago put his property on sale and it was futile to sell it, and so he went with the option of trade by barter. He is now after Apple’s latest product offering – the iPhone 6. And if he can’t have that, he’s willing to settle for a 32-gigabyte iPad or an Android in exchange for the house.
The three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom brick house isn’t exactly in the best condition. It does have a finished basement and a plush garden, but neighbors strongly believe that it needs to be torn down. The bungalow was initially listed for $5,000, but there weren’t any takers. So the current price is down to $3,000 or an iPhone 6.
“It’s a real listing,” insisted realtor Larry Else. “My client is overseas and he told me he would be willing to trade the property for an iPhone 6. It sounds to me like he wants the Plus version, but I think he’s willing to negotiate.”
Surprisingly, there are people who would like to take on the offer. “I work on houses, so I would love to have it for that,” said Jamal Kemp, who lives nearby. “It doesn’t take a lot of money to fix these houses back up. I would (be willing to buy it).
But there’s a catch – whoever buys the house would also have to pay back taxes of $6,000 or more.
According to Else, however, that’s negotiable too. “We’d be willing to do a deal,” he said. “They would be able to get it on quick claim but eventually they would have to pay the back taxes. He might be willing to take anything, maybe an Android.”
The deal isn’t going to last forever – Else says that the house will stay on the market until Wayne County forecloses on the property, which could be as early as next year. Hopefully, the owner will get his hands on an iPhone before that happens.
